Forecast Today: Rain

We are a little tired of the rain (maybe a lot tired, but are trying not to be cranky about it), but we are thankful we can ride bikes in the garage.

Church Picnic 2009

Today was the perfect day for a picnic. Sunny, not too hot. No rain. A nice breeze. It was beautiful!

Usually, we do everything in our power to do nothing on Sunday afternoon after a busy Saturday, but we couldn't deny ourselves a picnic on such a glorious afternoon.

The kids had a great time playing "ball" - whether it was throwing the football, kicking the kick ball or throwing the frisbee. The boys were very intrigued that Pastor Mullinax was making balloon animals
Daegan and Capps participated in the Cake Walk (which I still don't completely understand). Daegan won one of the six prizes - a tin of caramel popcorn!Plus, it was a great time to be with friends!

Here is Mollee with Charity (I think they were a little big for the 'kiddie' toys)And this is as close as Mac and Carson would stand together for a picture

even with a candy corn bribe??

It was a fun time and I was glad we got to attend, last year we missed the church picnic and I still can't remember why??

The day ended with NASCAR and NFL, what could be better than that? No snide remarks, please!

Homecoming 2009

When I went "away" (25 minutes from home) to college I didn't really know what to expect. I was in 8th grade before I ever spent the night away from home, but I wanted to live on campus. I wanted to try it. I was fortunate enough to live with my cousin, Alice, so there would be no roommate worries.

My freshman year, I had a blast. I hung out with a group of seven girls. I barely ever made it home, not even for Sunday lunch - much to my father's chagrin. I have a lot of fond memories from those days.

This weekend was Homecoming, which I rarely ever go to, but some of my girls were going to be there. It has been 10+ years since I've seen them. Of course, there is always Facebooking to keep in touch, but it was great to get together ...just like old times.Of course, we had to go to Chili's for dinnerMy sophomore year I only made it one semester. I was barely ever on campus because I met this guy named Jason that I wanted to hang out with.

I dropped out to marry him, I think it was a good choice.

Buddy Walk 2009

Today was the annual Buddy Walk for the Down Syndrome Society. The kids always look forward to this event and were afraid we were going to miss it because of rain, but we made mud and all! We always walk for my nephew, Jack. He is 20 days younger than Mollee.

Of course, Capps fell during the walk and ended up on Jason's shoulders.

The kids always look forward to the caramel apples - because you can't get those anywhere else?
And the annual Buddy Walk Family photo (one of those I have for each year!):

Socks!

If you know my son Daegan, you may have noticed his "exciting" outfits. I encourage him to express his loud sense of style (maybe because of my loud sense of style?), much to his father's chagrin. He loves a bright tie-dye t-shirt, with camo pants - doesn't everybody? To top off each outfit, he enjoys fun socks. Lately, I have noticed his socks have holes in them or almost have holes in them.

This morning I went to Target to see if I could find him a few pairs of fun socks and I feel like I hit the jackpot. I got Daegan quite a few different pairs, but got everyone else a pair or two just because - lets just say I was in a giving mood :)

Photo #1 - Mollee - Miss Piggy, Tavis - Grumpy, Capps - Kermit, Daegan - Lightning McQueen, Mac - Curious George
Photo #2 - Mollee - Orange/Black/White Stripes, Daegan - Sponge Bob (Sorry, Grandma!), Capps - Mickey Mouse, Tavis - Yoda, Mac -TaMaterOthers not shown - Clone Troopers, Handy Manny, Pumpkins, Muppet Animal, Darth Varder

Thank you, Target, once again!

Old Sneakers

Yes, I said sneakers, get over it. My mother is a Yankee.

I just happened to notice today that Daegan's socks were peaking thru the end of his shoes. I'm embarrassed to think how long he has been walking around with holes in his shoes.
So, we threw them away - and he cried! UGH! The tragedies of childhood.
