Fun Mom Friday - Slip 'N Slide

We went to the pool a couple times this week, but we also did the Slip 'N Slide. Maybe that isn't real creative for "Fun Mom Friday", but it is what we did fun this week!!!


There was a slight mutiny with the hose and I got chased down and absolutely soaked, there was one picture, but I'm the author here and don't have to share.

They also were making "peacock hair"??The boys usually wear swim shirts, but they couldn't slide as well with the shirts on. Of course, now they all have grass burn on their tummies.Can you say "Scottish White"?
Not sure why he took shirt off since he didn't even slide?

Playground #1

I thought we would see how many playgrounds we could visit this summer. This week was here: My nephew, Lou, was with us all afternoon too!After the playground we did the Slip-N-Slide, which I am saving for "Fun Mom Friday" and then the boys chilled out playing Lego Harry Potter on the Xbox.

The kind of mess I don't mind

Is the kind that means we've been doing this all week.It is so nice to have access to a neighbors pool, almost anytime! (THANKS MAMA JO) This week she is out-of-town and said we could come and go as we pleased.

So, we have!This may not look too impressive, but for these boys not having floaties and feeling confident, it is majorly impressive!And the Step Guards!
You better believe Heather and I have gotten these two mixed up a time or two in the pool! Aunt Heather may or may not have dunked Tavis, thinking it was Elijah!
I love the pool!!!
The only good thing about the heat of the summer!

Esther-Ordinary

I've mentioned in a few posts from this past week that the kids were at Music Camp. I didn't give an explanation because I knew most of you reading my blog know what that is and I also knew I would be writing this post tonight.

Instead of VBS our church does Music Camp. The kids would go each day, learn songs, learn bible stories, do crafts, etc. They would also be working on a performance that took place tonight. We usually go to Music Camp, but don't get to do the performance because we are usually driving to the beach that particular Sunday (a sad reminder that we don't get a vacation this year :( ).

Anyhoo, moving on!

Tonight was the performance and this year the story was about Esther!

180 kids! My kids had fun and the performance was fun!Capps was off to the side, so we could only see him through the trees. A little fitting - Monkey in the trees!
Mollee had a narrating part and a solo - she did awesome at both!!!!! So proud - we all know I would have thrown up.
Tavis had....a rap/narrating/trio thing with his regular partners in crime - Liam and Ryan.I tried to get a group shot, but had to take it in shifts. Ms. Mindy, here is that memory you got to see me take and now it is on my blog!!!!The kids had fun and next year Mac gets to go! Just in case you were wondering!

Lamentations 3:22-23

I shared in my last post the swirl of emotions that have taken over me lately. I shared with you my love of the hymn, "Great is Thy Faithfulness".

Even though it was underlined in my Bible, I don't think I could have told you this verse or where to find it. Remember I told you, I'm learning a lot of new things.

Lamentations 3:22-23

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."

Can you imagine?

I now start each Sunday morning with waterproof mascara. I hate wearing it because I hate getting it off, but I always need it on Sundays.

I don't know if it is the stress that Jason and I find ourselves in these days. If it is the fact that I have small children that I want to make sure know the Lord and that weighs on my heart a little. If it is because I feel like I can actually listen to a worship service now - I've always struggled with concentrating and now the kids are old enough that I'm not so distracted by them - and I am learning a lot. Or if it is because I just don't care what people think around me, so I just let my emotions take over.

All these things contribute to the fact that I usually tear up during our worship.

There are certain things that get me every time. When my dad (the pastor) talks about his Dad - a great man that I cannot wait for my husband and kids to meet. There are songs that are emotional for me like Great is Thy Faithfulness, which we used in our wedding. And then there is communion, where I am reminded of the greatest sacrifice.

I want to share and write some things down that weigh heavy on my heart each week. I hope to share something from our service often, but I'm not going to say every week, because I don't want to force it.

Last week *I regrettably didn't get this posted last Sunday*, there was a song that hit me hard and I found myself so overwhelmed with emotions that I couldn't sing, but it has been playing in my head all week. With all the pain we are surrounded with, whether it be a friend with cancer, the loss of a loved one, or the devastation of a tornado, this song is such a comfort. A "I can't even imagine" comfort.

Be Still, My Soul, verse 4

Be Still, my soul: the hour is hast'ning on
when we shall be forever with the Lord,
when disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.

Fun Mom Friday - 3D Wooden Puzzles

I'm doing this again this Summer!

It will keep me thinking of fun things to do with the kids this Summer. Also, last year I really enjoyed reading everyone's different ideas.

This week, my lego-building-obsessed-child, Daegan, spent his money on a 3D wooden puzzle (I really don't know what they are called, but this is the name I have picked).

I am always impressed with his determination and persistence.Capps had bought one also, but Daddy had to get involved. I don't think Daddy would agree with the "fun mom" at this point.but he would!After Daegan's tarantula was a success, and since Daegan was having a lot more dental work done, I bought him a few more.He made a snakeand a dragon!He is still working on a detailed Angel Fish and I know he is going to want to paint them....

Now, what the heck do I do with all these creations?
