3rd Grade Chapel

Daegan's class sang a song in chapel today.  They sang about "Sowing the Seeds" and threw little seeds the whole time they were singing.

(we missed Capps' chapel since he was sick the day they sang)

Jason's last year in his 30's

A low key Saturday to celebrate!

Omar watching the celebration - he just looks guilty, doesn't he?
Jason got a t-shirt, a coffee cup and some books.  He was little insulted that he got Minecraft for Dummies and Banjo for Dummies.  :)
I got Jason a banjo.  But I didn't have it for our celebration.  I investigate and shopped and investigated and even paid for expedited shipping and it still didn't come in time.  So he gets to just read about a Banjo for now.

Taters and Tubesteaks 2013

We love this CPC event of meeting at the park for hotdogs and then everyone heading over to the baseball game.  Since Daegan and Mac were sick, they stayed home with Grandma (along with Capps) and Papa rode with us!
We got there early, so Jason got to cook for awhile!
The patient ones waiting to leave the park -
At the game - we were in the cheap, cheap seats, so we were covered when the rain started!  ;)
Enjoyed some coke, peanuts and funnel cakes.

Daegan learning to play Chess

Daegan wanted to learn to play chess.  So, he read a book about it.
Today, he finally got to play with Uncle Philip to learn some tactics and some strategy.
I love it!  (almost makes me want to learn so I can play him....almost)

Heather turns 40!

I forced the boys into a family photo!
Ruth and Gary got to join in the party a little bit too -

Happy Birthday, sis!  If you are 40 - that means we are all getting old.  That means you too Ruth!

Omar, Omar, Omar

We've had Omar for a month now.  Overall, things have gone well.  He is very playful and loves to snuggle - a perfect combination.  He is almost 100% potty trained (we got lucky that his foster Mom did most of the hard work for us).  But, we've had some interesting happenings that I will list here for a future read:
  • He has gotten on top of the kitchen table a few times.  Once, was funny - multiple times, not so funny.
  • He has chewed some siding off the house (Moriah, sound familiar?)
  • He got carsick on the way to his first vet visit.
  • He has sharp teeth.  The kids have many teeth scrapes (don't think they can be called bites?) and many shirts now have holes in them where he has jumped up on the kids.
  • He has destroyed many dog toys already.
  • He loves to chase around empty coke bottles on the deck.
  • He is learning to "sit" and "lay down" and "stay" with treats, but when you say "All Gone" he howls like his best friend died.  (apparently, he has some hound in him, along with boxer)
  • He has ripped all the mesh covering off the bottom of the antique chairs we got from Mima - so, the springs are now exposed.
  • He likes Jason's slippers.
  • He likes to take a nap laying in the afternoon sun on the deck.
  • AND - He can open the den door to get inside by himself.  It is a screened door and doesn't latch very well.  He has learned that he can bite the bottom of the door and if he swings it wide enough, he can slip in.  I really want to catch that on video sometime!
  • And for his one-month anniversary day - I went to put him in his crate to go run some errands and found the following on my deck/in the yard: three toothbrushes, my pajamas, a tube of sunscreen, an empty Panera bag (I had bought muffins), a can of tobacco and one of Jason's pipes.  When the kids got home, Capps came in with one of my bras and said he found it out in the yard (it had been hanging up drying).  Capps innocently said, "I don't know why he would want that, he is a BOY dog".
Still laughing about that one, Capps!

But not laughing about the destruction.  Good thing he is cute!

Elizabeth Aileen

Libby, our newest niece, was born on Monday around 10:30 PM.  My sister-in-law, Heather, after a long day of labor had to have an emergency c-section.  Then, Libby decided to scare everyone and not breathe for 11 minutes (Mommy was little out of it, but Daddy is sure it was the longest 11 minutes of his life).
Libby is being monitored closely now, but seems to be doing great!
I couldn't hold her when I met her today, but can't wait to spoil this special bundle of joy!

Lego Tabernacle by Daegan

I love to watch Daegan build with his Legos.  He always makes the original creation that he gets a set for, but then he is so good and mixing and matching pieces to make other things.
He is a unique boy, with a unique mind.
The different piles are for a reason (even if I don't understand them).
And his fingers are so good at delicately putting things together.
Today, he built the Tabernacle.  The walls (and it had a roof).  The Ark of the Covenant, the Golden Candle and the Table of Showbread.
Here is another view of the Ark of the Covenant being carried by priests.
Please ignore the fact the Priests consist of Anakin, Locke and Thor.

Lilly sent me a text...

to say she was getting a bath.
I cannot wait to spoil this girl a little bit!

My favorite thing about Spring...

Evenings on the deck.

Me blogging.  Jason reading.

Feeling the breeze and listening to the dragstrip.

....dreaming about a new deck....

Sick Capps being comforted by Omar

Even if Capps didn't want Omar so close.
