Wedding Ring

broken :(
(and apparently, very dirty)

Halfway helpful!

Besides the birthday party on Saturday, Jason and I got a lot of work done. He cut the grass and used the weed eater everywhere (which doesn't get done when I cut the grass), fixed our privacy fence that was falling down in the back, and then painted a second coat on the side of the house that faces the garage. I went grocery shopping and then pressure washed the back of the house and then decided to pressure wash the deck also. I took the kids their birthday party and came back home and primed the garage doors. (can you tell we both really want this 'painting the house' project to get done?)

Jason rarely takes off for random holidays because when you are self-employed, if you don't work, you don't get paid. So he went to work this morning and I decided to surprise him and paint the back side of the house that I had pressure washed. I was doing great until I got to a few areas I couldn't reach. UGH! I did use the ladder, trying to ignore the fact that I am terrified of heights, but I just couldn't go any higher in certain areas.

So this is what he came home to (this is the top story of our home, the bottom half is brick, just so you know I wasn't scared of being up one story): I get an "A" for effort, right?

and Another Birthday Party

May always seems to end up crazy with lots of birthday parties and crazy end of school activities. Today we attended yet another party. Daegan was the one invited, but the birthday boys mother called me last minute and said I could bring everyone. They had an inflatable water slide set up and she wanted all to enjoy.(not sure if Capps could see with his hat this low?)They had water balloonsand a pinata! Mac didn't like the cold water on the slide so he hung out on the porchTowards the end of the party, he was found wondering the yard with a bubble sword in his back, just in case!

The Bookbag

Capps has been dreaming about the day he would get his bookbag for school. Having a July birthday I thought we would get it for him as a gift, but we've always used bookbags as suitcases and thought I'd get it for him for summer activities.

He is so proud!! When 24 hours had passed and I still hadn't taken a picture (guess I have a reputation?) he wanted to make sure to get some pictures.
He couldn't understand why he couldn't wear it to bed - "ya' know, just like a turtle"

First Pool Trip of the Year!

I had promised the kids I would take them to the pool Friday! Today is Friday, and we woke up to a dark cloudy day with a forecast of rain. The kids were bummed so I took them to McDonald's instead. I didn't have to take them, they would have gotten over it, but I needed to get out of the house too and that was my best bet.

After they devoured 30 chicken nuggets, four burgers and two large fries (this is why going out to eat with my crew is never cheap, thankfully they were having a chicken nugget Shrek special - maybe I should ask for McDonald's gift cards for my birthday since I love to take them....hmm...), they played on the playground for an hour and a half and by the time we left, the skies were very sunny.

So, we went to the pool too! They really lucked out today with activities! Guns involve everything we do, even at the pool!
This is the first year I've ever bought the kids bathing suits. We usually just use hand-me-downs. They've been swimming in the same sun shirts for three summers now and since Old Navy was having their $9 a piece sale, I decided to get something for the three younger ones that never get new things. Mac's is my favorite! (even with his eyes closed and his left leg bunched up)Capps decided to wear his old sun shirt *hmpf* with his new bathing suit. The only swimmies we could find for him that didn't have a hole in it were pink. So much for cute matching swimming attire!Tavis is too cool for a sun shirt!!
I love the pool and look forward to many more trips, we are thankful a lady in our neighborhood has a pool and allows us to use it whenever we like! Three cheers for Mama Jo!!!

Last Day of School Celebration

Tonight we took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese in celebration of "No more school"!! I've been saving left over grocery money from the budget (thanks to coupons and sales) for awhile so that we could do this, plus we had coupons for tokens and pizza and we used the cups we got last time we went because they get free refills for life. It was great chaotic fun!!!
Now I am the mother of a 4th grader (*gasp*), a 3rd grader, a 1st grader and a kindergartner.

Last Day of School!!

= last day for mommy to run errands with only 2 kids (in Aunt Ruth's car that we adopted)!

100 points!

Mollee just barely did it, but she got her 100 point medal today for reading! With an hour to go before the deadline, she finally finished her last book and got 100.2 points!

Kindergarten Day!!

Kindergarten always has a Spanish Program at the end of the year. They sing a few songs in Spanish and share some general statements they have learned.Kindergarten doesn't participate in the Elementary Field Day that the big kids had a few weeks ago, they have their own day. I think it is to make it more special for them and they don't make a big deal about who wins. Just compete and go to the next thing! The kids love it!

I love how the entire elementary school comes out and cheers for the little kindergartners as they parade to the field, a grand tradition!!I got the big kids out of class to come cheer for their brother! It was warm, but we were thankful for clouds and a breeze.

Birthdays, Birthdays, Everywhere!

This has been a party packed 24 hours!!!

Last night (Friday), Tavis was invited to his best friends' birthday party. Since he has been to our house to play and spent the night on numerous occasions, his mother said to bring whatever siblings wanted to come along. Of course, they all wanted to go! The kids very much enjoyed two hours of inflatable fun!!Today (Saturday), Mollee was invited to a party in the same time frame that Daegan got invitations for two different parties. He had to choose which one to go attend (a major decision for a kindergartner). Jason was working today so, thankfully, the birthday girl for Mollee's party was able to help us with transportation. Since I didn't get to attend, this is the picture I got before they left. The party that Daegan chose to attend was a rock climbing party. Daegan was a little nervous about this adventure, but he did a great job and I was so proud of him getting to the top.
Jason made it home in time to get Mollee from her party and then pick up some pizzas for dinner. He has had a long week and we've already had a very busy weekend. We look forward to coming home tomorrow after church to have a relaxed PB&J lunch and naptime all around!!

To school and back...

to school and back, to school and back....

That is what the past 48 hours has been for me. I'm not complaining, except for the two times I got stuck on the interstate for an hour because of a wreck or construction did not sit well with myself.

Yesterday (Monday) I went and ate lunch with the kids. Jason also got to meet us there, which was a treat for the kids because he hasn't been able to make it this school year. Unfortunately, no pictures were taken. *hmpf* Then I had carpool that day, leaving the house before 2:30 to get there early and I didn't get there until after 3:30 because of something???
Then last night, we attended Tavis' 2nd grade chorus program. Jason got stuck in traffic on the way home, so he called me to just bring him a change of clothes and dinner and he turned around at the nearest exit he could reach and headed to school.
Tuesday, Tavis' class was responsible for chapel. They chose the 'Armour of God' and Tavis got to be the one in armour. They did a good job and normally I would have stayed for lunch after a chapel, but a parent in Tavis' class offered to host a pizza party for them, so I opted out.
I must say, I am looking forward to summer. The last month of school is always so full of activities (Field Day, projects, programs, etc.) that you are anxiously awaiting a break!!
