Labor Day Saturday

I don't remember celebrating Labor Day too much, but I do remember it helps start the football season, which I am always excited about.  We spent today at my brother's house and my cousins, Harry and Ashley and kiddos, also came down for the cookout.

Of course, lots of football watching - and kids, ALL AROUND!
This was Lilly's first family gathering, which can be very overwhelming, but she seemed to do great!
Philip had to give mom a lesson on how her computer syncs with her new iPhone (this should be interesting).
And, of course, cornhole was played.
Poor Gary, his first American cornhole experience and he got partnered with me.  (I feel certain Harry is laughing at me in this picture)
Good to have these guys around:
And good to meet this new little one of Harry and Ashley's:
This is when I know we have socialized too long, and it is time to go.

I don't brag on my hubby enough

Sometimes it is hard to have a carpenter as a husband.  It is hard only because you know what he is capable of, but he is either too busy (and for some reason doesn't want to work on the weekends) or he doesn't have work and there is no money for materials.

He has recently built a deck, remodeled three different bathrooms and remodeled a kitchen.  Here are some pictures of his work:

A master bath and tiled shower -
 A beautiful kitchen -
 Aren't those lights cool?
 3x3 tiled floor
An awesome shower I envy -

A deck-
A screened in porch -
And he even helped build a log cabin
He does such awesome work!

A common scene after dinner

we can't always wait for Capps to finish....

Summer Birthday All-Day Lollipop

Capps' teacher gives these big lollipops to each student to enjoy on their birthday.  Today was the day that all the Summer birthdays got theirs.

Cousins meeting Lilly

Mac finally found someone smaller than him.
 Girl Cousins!!!

Airport Adventure

So, my sister moved to South Africa 3 years ago.  She fell in love, got married, had a baby and now she and her family are moving to 'merica.

They were due to fly in at 9:00 last night, but at 8:40 (while en route to the airport) we got a call that they were still in Customs and they missed their flight and they were flying into the Nashville airport - two hours away.  Their flight was scheduled to land at 12:15.

We turned around, went home, put the kids to bed and then Mom, Dad, Heather and I headed to Nashville in my van.  It was a good adventure.

This is how Papa "waits patiently".
I think we had some good laughs - you know, the later it gets, the funnier things are.
No, we didn't plan our outfits?!
When their plane landed, we watched it unload.  And we waited.  And we waited.  No Ruth and Gary and Lilly.  And we waited.  I really thought my father was going to bust.

Apparently, they were waiting for their stroller to be retrieved, so they were the last ones off.  But they made it and were safely with us.
 Lilly was quite exhausted.
She was asleep before we got out of the parking garage.
We then drove our two hours back home at 2 AM in the foggy darkness with a slight drizzle.  Our exhausting adventure was over around 4 AM.

Then I got to get up at 6 to get kids ready for school and get to work.  I have decided I am much too old for no sleep.

If you have a brother like Tavis..

A good weekend to turn 37!

Celebrated with a delicious chocolate cake with the Browns
 Uncle Jase loving on Libby
How many people does it take to put her in her carseat while she is screaming?
We had a very low-key Saturday night celebration at home.  I picked up barbecue and we had left-over cake....

Then we celebrated with Caines Clan on Sunday.
 The well-wishers
 Love this guy!!!
You know you are old when you get excited about a new bath mat (since the dog ate the other one) and a spatula.  And some jewelry!
Now, onto the next year!
