First Swim - 9 days into break

Can you believe I made them wait 9 days before an activity?
Still trying to figure out Summer and Working From Home......

Report Cards 2012-2013

Mac - got all "completed" tasks.  Teacher comments: Mac has persevered and made such incredible strides academically throughout the year.  He is a kind and good friend.  His sense of humor has kept us all smiling.

Capps - got all S+ and S.  Teacher comments:  It was a blessing to have Capps in my class and get to know him better.  I love that he is completely engaged in life and is an eager learner.  He makes great connections between what he is doing and reading in class, with what he has read or done.  He is a delight.

Daegan - straight A's all four quarters!!!  Teacher comments: It has been a privilege to have Daegan in my class this year.  Daegan is a delight in so many ways.  He gives great answers in class and truly loves learning.

Tavis - mostly A's, a few B's and a C- in math.  Teacher comments:  I have enjoyed having Tavis in my class this year.  He never fails to make me smile.  As he heads into middle school next year I want to encourage him to use an agenda, stay on top of his assignments and put all his effort into turning his work in on time.  I know he is ready for this next challenge.

Mollee - mostly A's, a few B's and a C in math (see the pattern).  Teacher comments (all different teachers):  Works well in class.  I have really enjoyed having you in my class.  Mollee's joyful contributions to class discussions and activities have been an asset to my class.  Mollee is a beautiful and kind girl who truly loves her friends and even her teachers well.  Her smile is one of the motivations of my day, and her joy just shows in everything she does.  Shows respect for authority and others in class.  Good progress is being made.  Awesome year - looking forward to next year!

Last Day of School 2012-2013

Since Mollee had exams, she had to be at school at 8:00 (Wednesdays regularly start at 9:00).  So she got her picture before the boys even woke up.
Then, the boys - Tavis all fancy for graduation!
Tonight, at bed prayertime, I asked the kids their favorite part of their school year:

Mollee - disecting in  Science

Tavis - Atlanta Trip

Daegan - fractions!

Capps - meeting his new friend, Whit

Mac - popsicles today (he is all about the here and now)

5th Grade Graduation - Tavis

When I dropped off the kids at school, I found out that Tavis didn't have to be there if he didn't want to be.  They had already cleaned out their desks and they were basically just waiting for graduation.  So, he stayed with me and we hung out.  I have to say, I didn't mind!
They started a new tradition this year, where the 5th grade parades around the Elementary School before they head over to the auditorium for the graduation ceremony.  It was great!!
Mr. Joe Cool!!!
Because of Aunt Heather, we got front row seats - here is the "littles" cheer section.
And the big kid cheer section.
When you are close to the top of the alphabet, you are one of the last ones to walk in.
 Mr. Dirske
"Ode To Joy" on the recorder, lead by Mrs. Beirne.
Papa, being Papa, and not relaxing.
Uncle Jon was the speaker for graduation this year, so Elijah got to introduce his Dad - it was a short and sweet intro!
Jon, did a great job - mostly talking to the students.

Tavis getting his diploma - too cool for school!
Who doesn't love these three ladies.  One of the best teams of teachers I've ever seen!
Mommy (a little teary) and Daddy with the now-middle-schooler.

Kindergarten Spanish and Music Program

Mac's class had a Spanish/Music Program today.  I posted some videos on Facebook.  It was very fun!
 Marching to "Yankee Doodle"

Mac introducing himself in Spanish - since he was the first one I didn't realize what was going on and I didn't record it.

Fun Memories!

The Math Book

Most of you know our struggle with Tavis to keep up with things.

Tomorrow he graduates from 5th grade.  He has lost his math book.  We were told if he didn't turn it in before graduation, we'd have to pay for it.

Frustrated, but trying to get through tomorrow - he says he knows I'm gonna cry, he is probably right.

Tonight when I kissed him good-night he was a little teary.  He apologized for losing his math book and said he plans to pay for it out of his own money.

Now, I'm sitting in my room crying.  Touched by his offer.

Ticket To Ride

Luke, Andrew, Andrew, David and David - I love these guys!
Tonight they played Ticket to Ride!

5th grade Atlanta trip in the words of Uncle Jon

Tavis' class went on a three-day trip to Atlanta.  It is well organized, it is a lot of fun and I believe it is very exhausting for everyone!  Day One: Tellus Science Museum,  Atlanta Zoo, Cyclorama, Cici's Pizza.  Day Two: Planetarium, CNN, Coke Museum, Georgia Aquarium and The Varsity.  Day Three they hike Stone Mountain.

They always have parent chaperone and each adult has two or three kids to be in charge over the entire time they are there.  This year, my brother-in-law, Uncle Jon went and he texted me with pics throughout the time away.

If you know Jon's humor, you will enjoy this post a little more.  I just put the "subject" line of the text to explain the picture.

About 10 minutes after the bus pulled away - "Are we there yet?"
"Having Fun!"
"Zoo :)"
 "Humming along"
 "Still Smiling"
 "Worth The Trip"
"Choo Choo"
"Seeing Green"
 Group Stone Mountain Picture
Tavis had fun.  He is exhausted so I will probably get more information tomorrow.  His biggest complaint was riding the shaky, high-up tram on the way down Stone Mountain - that's my boy!

I must say, I missed him and I am very glad to have him back under our roof.  But I am very glad he got to have this experience.

Ruth's Butterfly

Ruth, do I have to give this back when you come back to 'merica?

My five blessings

Cousins meeting Libby

Libby was in the hospital for a week after being born.  Then we were sick.  So, even though Libby is now 4 1/2 weeks old, the cousins have just now met!!!

Of course, Mollee got a hold of her first!
But when Daegan got her, he wouldn't let her go.  (and he can't wait until we see her again)
He even got her to go to sleep when she was a little bit fussy.
And he then he fed her a bottle.
Right before we left, Capps decided to take a turn.
Looking forward to many years to come of Brown cousin fun!
