I couldn't remember where I set my sandwhich down today

Then, at 3:00, I found out I hadn't even started eating it yet. One of those days!

"Do not exasperate your children, that they may not lose heart"

Colossians 3:21

This is a verse that I have to learn over and over and over again. I have a short fuse and children do dumb things. I sometimes take it to the extreme and won't let it go and frustrate the heck out of my kids. It is a terrible sin. One that I go to them for forgiveness often.

It has been a long stressful week for us. That is not an excuse, but just the facts. I may have snapped at my kids a little more than normal. After losing it with my Capps the other night, I took him back to my room, asked for forgiveness and we hugged for awhile. He looked up at me and said, "Now I know you are so overwhelmed, I'll try to be better!" It broke my heart.

That takes me to Tavis. I'm afraid he is going to be a politician someday because when it comes to answering, "Did you do your homework?", he can skirt around that answer like you wouldn't believe.

He has struggled to bring home appropriate materials for homework. And this is the year that he needs to learn. Jason worked this weekend, but I knew I was not in a state of mind to deal with yet another set of homework that wasn't going to be done.

Jason came home and handled it perfectly (he is so good in those situations). I asked him to help me not exasperate Tavis and he told me we need to help him and not just tell, "bring home your stuff!" So this is what we came up with - tapped in his Agenda (which is their schoolwork calendar): Thankfully, it is fairly standard in 4th grade. Vocab test Tuesday. Math homework Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. DOG (geography) and ADD (math) due every Thursday. DLR (grammar), spelling and bible verse on Friday. So.....

If he looks at his agenda and brings it home every night, this just might work!

Pack-N-Play

Can also be used as a play area for the younger cousins to hide.

Who knew spoons could be so exciting?

I got these delivered this week. (A gift for my birthday from Daniel and Heather)

They hook on to the side of your bowl when you need a break from stirring. I LOVE THEM! They are part of the Rachel Ray Collection.

5 inches of rain in 13 hours =

Mommy announcing everyone can go outside and play in the rain.

Of course, Mollee was the first one out the door! Running laps around the house
and playing under the section where the gutter is clogged.
Daegan joined the laps around the house.
And he never met a puddle he didn't like!
Tavis couldn't believe all the nonsense, but wasn't sure he wanted to be left out?
He got his feet wet (a little)
Of course, Mollee found the mud!

Jason will probably be here all day (since it isn't too hot) - please ignore the puddles in the corners. If only I knew someone who built decks.....
Mac and Capps can never be convinced that getting messy or wet is a good idea, they will be playing in their pjs all day!
And, again, proof that I was outside, getting soaked, taking pictures.
