Advent Reading

Each year, CPC asks different families in the church to do the Advent reading and then light the candle that week for the the church service.  Growing up, as the Pastor's kid, we always had to light the Christ candle on Christmas Eve.

I've never desired or wondered when my own family would be picked.  It just never crossed my mind.  But we were approached this year, and I was honored.  And, it seemed appropriate timing in so many ways.

We were supposed to do Week 1, but that was also the weekend we were going to Cincinnati, so, with not knowing how long we were going for, they moving us to the Week 4 (which was good since we had the flu Week 1).

To be able to do the Advent reading today, and for Daegan to be able to stand in front of our massive sanctuary and read to the congregation, was emotional to me.  He has come a long way in the last three weeks.  He still has a long way to go, but he is improving.
Daegan, Tavis and Jason (newly elected Elder) read.
And Capps lite the candle, after a couple tries.  And, if you've seen the Lego Movie this will make sense - when we sat down in the pew he leaned over to Jason and I and said, "First Try"!
